Our philosphy with flash was always less is more. While very neat looking and always full of potential, the problems associated with advanced flash development made it difficult to use in our long term projects. Two key problems with flash revolve around the extra development and design time required to do serious web projects and the inherent accessibility and search engine optimization problems. In the past the flash development environment did not lend itself to easy modification for broad applications. These issues translated to higher cost for initial development and maintenance as well as the issue of search engine optimization which is next to impossible with a completely flash based website.

Thus for our largest client base who have mostly required solid, affordable, and frequently updated sites, we have limited our promotion and usage in this art for many years.

However, newer versions of flash offer a wide variety of new powerful tools for interfacing with external data and more rapid application development giving flash more potential than ever before. flash has always been ideal for incorporation into well designed valid CSS designs. Instead of thinking of flash as the end environment, thinking of it is another form of media and method of content delivery, opening a whole world of possibilities. Flash based graphics, headers, accent elements, image galleries, etc., are ideally presented and bring the potential of traditional graphic design and typography to the internet.

We are currently in the process of developing a flash department to focus on making advanced usage of flash an affordable reality, the same as we have done for web development, so that the largest possible group of clients can afford the extra pizzazz without the extra cost. We will are not only integrating flash applications into Promarkit for advanced database driven applications, but building a workflow and collection of class libraries to rapidly deliver advanced flash installations in ways that simply weren't possible several years ago.

While we have been incorporating flash into our project off and on for years, we have just begun to make it a serious part of our workflow and business plan. We will be collecting together a portfolio of our flash offerings soon.
